Central Trains - Sunday Working - 12 August

10 August 2007

The union has written to the management of Central Trains to confirm that ASLEF has not encouraged or organised its members not to attend for work on Sunday 12 August. In line with procedures, the union has agreed that volunteers can continue to be sought until 1600 on Saturday.

ASLEF’s regional official Mick Whelan will meet the company’s operations director as soon as possible to discuss this and other issues of concern to the membership.

The full text of the letter from the General Secretary to the Operations Director of Central Trains is as follows:

‘I write to confirm that my union has not solicited any declaration of non-availability by its members for working on Sunday 12 August or subsequent Sundays on Central Trains.

We are willing to agree, in accordance with procedures, for the deadline for availability to be extended to 4.00pm on Saturday, 11 August 2007.

Yours sincerely

Keith Norman

General Secretary
