Gaza Conflict

Demonstration 24th November and Lobby of Parliament 28th November

ASLEF condemns current violence in Gaza and Israel. Already an estimated 1.6 million Palestinians are directly affected by Israel’s blockade of Palestinian territory, and current violence will further aggravate their suffering. The conflict is a disaster for civilians on all sides and shows just how distant a lasting peace deal is.

ASLEF has written to the Foreign Secretary, William Hague, to ask that the UK government take concrete steps to get the Israeli government and Hamas back to the negotiating table and to pursue all avenues in urging them to immediately commit to a lasting cease fire.

Join the demonstration for Gaza this Saturday 24 November, assembling at Downing Street at 12 noon before marching to the Israeli Embassy. The demonstration is being organised by the Palestine Solidarity Campaign, Stop the War Coalition, CND, British Muslim Initiative, and the Palestinian Forum in Britain.

The Palestine Solidarity Campaign are also organising a lobby of Parliament next Wednesday 28th November. The event will take place from 2pm to 6pm outside the House of Commons.

They are also asking everyone to get involved in lobbying MPs, either requesting a meeting with their MP or sending a letter asking their MP to submit questions to Parliament.

Briefing papers, a template letter and other information are provided on their website
