Celebrations at National Rail HQ

We welcome Network Rail’s recognition as a fully-fledged public body under public control as a step closer to bringing about the renationalisation of the entire rail network – a move that would be supported by the overwhelming majority of the British public.

The railways are a public service, reliant on public funding, so it is right that they should be under pubic ownership. Plus, with a democratically accountable railway we can be confident that we should benefit from extra investment in infra-structure, capacity and staffing and fair fares.

General Secretaries Mick Whelan, Manuel Cortes and Mick Cash handed in a letter requesting to meet with the Chief Executive of Network Rail at the earliest opportunity.
