08 September 2005

Planned industrial action by ASLEF members at Wales and Borders has been suspended. The industrial action, which was due to take place on the December 14/15 and December 21/22 2002 have been suspended by ASLEF"s Executive Committee in light of an improved offer from management.

Drivers employed at the new Wales and Borders franchise had voted for industrial action in their dispute on the issue of pay harmonisation between employees transferred from several different previously existing train operating companies.

ASLEF General Secretary Mick Rix, the ASLEF Executive Committee, and the negotiating team on Wales and Borders have all recommended that ASLEF members should accept the proposed new offer from management.
