Double bill

09 October 2015

There’s a great theatre double bill at the Bussey Building, Peckham, London, over the next couple of months.

Townsend Productions, whose stunning play We Will Be Free!, about the Tolpuddle Martyrs, got a rave review in the ASLEF Journal in October 2013, are putting on The Ragged Trousered Philanthropists from 5 to 31 October; and United We Stand from 2 to 14 November.

The Ragged Trousered Philanthropists is a critically acclaimed two handed version adapted by Neil Gore from the Stephen Lowe play based on Robert Tressell’s classic novel of working-class struggle. Post show speakers on 12 October include playwright Stephen Lowe and Dave Nellist, president of the TUSC.

United We Stand is the story of Des Warren, Ricky Tomlinson and the Shrewsbury Pickets by Neil Gore with music and songs performed by Sandra Kerr and John Kirkpatrick. Post show speakers on 2 November include Tom Watson, deputy leader of the Labour Party, and Ricky Tomlinson.

Venue: The CLF Art Cafe, Block A, Bussey Building, 133 Rye Lane, Peckham, SE15 4ST.
