SOUTH WEST TRAINS - FREE DAY WORKING - REDUCED WORKING WEEK

URGENT NOTICE –

NO SANCTION FOR FREE DAY WORKING

BEYOND SEPTEMBER 2003

 

 

 

SOUTH WEST TRAINS - FREE DAY WORKING - REDUCED WORKING WEEK

 

Further to Head Office Circular 486/2003 dated 26 September 2003.

 

Please be advised that I have today received reports from the Chairman South West Trains Company Council and District Secretary No.1, that negotiations on achieving a 35 hour/4 day reduced working week for members on South West Trains have broken down.

 

Accordingly, under the provisions of EC Resolution 637/422, there is no agreement governing Free Day Working and no sanction for Free Day Working on South West Trains exists beyond the end of September 2003.

 

As soon as more information is available, I will endeavour to keep members fully informed and appraised of the situation.

 

637/422 “That the correspondence be noted and the General Secretary be instructed to inform S. Smith, Head of Drivers, South West Trains, that this Executive Committee is prepared to sanction a period of free day working on South West Trains until May 31st 2004 on the proviso that an agreement is reached upon the implementation of a 35 hour/4 day working week, and that correct monitoring procedures are adhered to at the satisfaction of the Company Council, and that the Company Council awaits on the Executive Committee every three months to give a progress report.

 

All branches and representatives South West Trains be advised.”
