Former District Secretary Len Worboys - Funeral arrangements

17 March 2017

It is with deep regret that we announce that after a long period of illness, Bro. Len Worboys has passed away.

A man well known and loved within the society, Len Worboys was District Secretary for District No1 between 1990 and 1999 and he also represented District No8 between 1990 and 1992. Len started his career at Fratton (Portsmouth) as an engine cleaner on 28th December 1953 at the age of 15, and joined ASLEF on that same day.  Promoted to driver in 1962 at Effingham Junction, he then returned to Portsmouth as a driver beween 1966 and 1990.  Len was an ASLEF LDC Representative from 1968 until 1990, when he became District Secretary for the district with the highest membership.  He strived for the highest level of representation for members during the difficult period of driver restructuring and rail privatisation.

For Len’s friends and colleagues who wish to join us in paying their respects to his memory, the funeral will take place on Tuesday 28 March 2017 at 1.00pm at Portchester Crematorium.
