First Great Western – industrial action rescinded

05 July 2006

Following a report from company negotiators, the executive committee (EC) has rescinded planned industrial action within First Great Western. The offer placed before the EC provides agreement for cross cover, transfers of work and 104 rest days and leave. It also includes progress on travel facilities and arrangement for Christmas and Boxing Day working. Increases in pay also forms part of the proposed settlement.

As usual within ASLEF, a referendum of members will be arranged on the offer. Ballot papers will be despatched on 19 July with a closing date of 14 August for the return of voting papers. In the interim members of the company council will visit depots to explain the deal and especially to highlight moves towards full harmonisation of conditions.
