Brady on hold

01 February 2006

Attempts by former General secretary Shaun Brady to seek remedies for being dismissed have been held up due to the cancellation of a hearing due to be heard on 17 January. Meanwhile Brady, Len Worboys and Steve Trumm have attended a ‘case management’ discussion.

The remedies hearing was deferred when the Chair of the Tribunal was taken ill. It will now resume on 4 April. Meanwhile ASLEF has appealed against the original Employment Tribunal ruling, on ground including the claim that the Chairman of the tribunal had failed to act judicially and was perverse in her findings.

The ‘case management’ hearing discussed whether to put off the remedies hearing until after the appeal against the first decision has been held. It was decided not to delay the remedies hearing, but in practice the appeal may take place first.
