Ballot suspended after talks breakthrough at Northern

29 October 2007

The ballot for strike action in Northern Rail has been suspended following further talks with the company.

At the end of last week union representatives – with the authority of the general secretary and president – came to the basis of an agreement with Northern that they believe will be acceptable to the executive committee.

Management is currently coming up with final costings for the proposal and it is hoped to finalise an agreement by 7 November.

The 4 week notice to withdraw from rest day working remains in place.
