Scottish Union Learning Fund
ASLEF is committed to the idea of lifelong learning, promoted through the Trade Union Learning Of Representatives, who are currently being trained throughout the industry. In conjunction with this, ASLEF and their sister railway Trade Unions have contributed to the development of the Rail Learning Centre in Glasgow. This unique centre has been designed to give rail workers in Scotland the opportunity to develop their skills offering a range of courses and online training facilities. The centre can accommodate up to 20 users at a time, and also offers a laptop lending facility.
Project Worker
Another first for the project is the appointment of John Slaven, who is an ASLEF member and Scotrail driver, but has now been seconded as the lifelong learning project worker. John is based at the centre and will help develop the Scottish Union Learning Fund Project, while providing an essential support system for Learner Reps within Scotland. John can be contacted at the Rail Learning Centre on (0141) 248 2022, or can be contacted online at: jssulf15@hotmail.com
