Consultative Committee Open Meetings

Come and find out what the equality consultative committee meetings are all about at one of their open meetings in May.

These meetings offer women, LGBT and black and ethnic minority members an opportunity to have their say about issues that are important to them, and to meet members of the Consultative Committees and ask them about the work of the committees.

At each meeting there will be a guest speaker on an issue that is relevant to the current work of the committees. The speaker at the Black & Ethnic Minority Consultative Committee (BEMCC) meeting will be Mickey Nicholls from the Fire Brigades Union who will be talking about the recruitment and experience of black firefighters.

The speaker at the Lesbian, Gay Bisexual & Trans Consultative Committee (LGBTCC) meeting will be from Terrence Higgins Trust, and they will be talking about the growth of HIV infection in the UK and also about other sexually transmitted diseases.

The Women’s Consultative Committee (WCC) meeting will either have a speaker on post natal depression or one on breast and ovarian cancer.

The meetings take place at ASLEF Head Office in London, and start at 2.00pm. They are fun and informal – why not combine them with a shopping trip to the capital?
