PT and R Update,DB Schenker

25 Oct 2011

The issues involving DB Schenker proposals to close Crewe and Rugby have advanced further.

Following recent meetings between the TCCC,DB Schenker senior Management and the Local Level Reps at Crewe and Rugby, decisions have been made with respect to the future of both Depots.

Unfortunately it has been decided that Rugby Traincrew Depot will close and that the closure date will be the 10th December.Drivers at Rugby have until the 10th November to decide whether to apply for vacancies on the National Vacancy List or to opt for Redundancy.

The situation is different in relation to Crewe and after a succesful mitigation case made by the LDC at Crewe it has been decided to keep Crewe Depot open, albeit with a reduced complement of Drivers.

The TCCC would like to stress that the figure of 20 Drivers HAS NOT BEEN AGREED NATIONALLY.Further meetings in relation to Crewe will decide the complement. There will be a surplus of Drivers at Crewe and again,Drivers have been given a National Vacancy list to opt for Depots where they can be accomodated.

This has been a long process, and the TCCC would like to thank the Drivers at the affected depots for showing great professionalism during this difficult time, and also to the LDC Reps at Crewe and Rugby for putting forward constructive and workable mitigation plans.
