- ASLEF Secures ULF 15 Funding - Jan 2012
- 20 Jan 2012ASLEF have been notified by unionlearn that their Union Learning Fund Round 15 application has been approved. This will provided funding until 31st March 2014 to support the work of ASLEF Education.

- 18 Nov 2011We encourage all learning and will reward you for using your initiative. If you have enrolled on a course independently, through a local providers, you maybe entitled to claim a learning bursary to help towards the course costs. There are two types of learning bursaries, the first for further education which funds up to £30 per course and the second is for higher learning where the course fee can be reimburse up to the sum of £150.
- Future Funding From ULF
- 4 Nov 2011Unionlearn, the Union Learning Fund (ULF) administrators have announced that there will be future funding in England. The bidding process for funding has started and ASLEF have submitted their "Expression of Interest" to fund administrators.
- Bletchley to open an Internet cafe/Learning centre
- 11 Oct 2011ASLEF have been working with Bletchley Railway Club over the past few months to build a partnership to enable them to offer a facility to help ASLEF Members, railway employees, friends, family and the local community get to grips with computers and the internet.
- Apprenticeship Award Nominations
- 29 Sep 2011Two ASLEF led apprenticeship schemes have been nominated for awards in Scotland. Both apprenticeships are run within ScotRail in partnership with the union.
- Further Funding Secured in Scotland
- 29 Sep 2011ASLEF in Scotland have successfully secured two lots of funding from Scottish Union Learning, the education wing of the STUC. The money comes from SUL’s Learning Fund and will provide two courses, one in Motherwell and one in Edinburgh.
- Building an Internet Café
- 15 Jul 2011ASLEF ULR Stephen Honhold has been running a Build your own computer course at Milton Keynes in his spare time. Through the generosity of the computer equipment donated by family and friends, the use of a room at London Midland trains and the on-going support from his branch and the ASLEF Education Team, Stephen and his pupils are working towards rebuilding 8 fully functional computers from the 12 donated.
- ITQ at London Midland
- 15 Jul 2011The ITQ courses running at Birmingham New Street, Bletchley and Milton Keynes have proved to be very popular with ASLEF members, family and friends. So much so that extra enrolment days are going to take place over the coming weeks to accommodate the extra number of people contacting the ULR’s wanting to take up the opportunity to gain recognised IT, Math and English qualifications. There will also be other locations/depots available for enrolments shortly so keep a look out for a date and location near to you.
- Learning bursaries available to ASLEF members
- 11 Jul 2011ASLEF has money available for a limited number of learning bursaries. These will be up to a maximum of £150 towards the cost of higher education learning or £30 towards the cost of informal or further education.
- New Provider Agreements Signed
- 11 Jul 2011ASLEF – Education has signed two new provider partnership agreements with Right Track Training Solutions Ltd and Kent Adult Education.
