- Paddington Signal "to be recommissioned"
- 26/01/2006ASLEF said today that Network Rail is on the point of re-commissioning the signal that was involved in the Paddington train crash. ‘I understand that train companies have been consulted, but there has been no contact with the union on the issue,’ says ASLEF General Secretary Keith Norman. ‘It strikes me as being totally irresponsible not to seek, and pay attention to, the views of our drivers who will be taking trains along this stretch of line.’
- ONE ballot shows 76% in favour of pay deal
- 18/01/2006A referendum of ASLEF members working for ONE railway has returned a 76.1% vote in favour of the revised pay deal. Improvements were secured following emergency talks held just before Christmas between the National Organiser Andy Reed, members of the Executive Committee and representatives from ‘ONE’ Railway.
- Eighth Cornwall level crossing crash in five years
- 17/01/2006Keith Norman, general secretary of ASLEF, warned today that delay in implementing the union’s proposals on level crossings was putting the public in ‘severe danger’. Keith was speaking as news came in that a passenger train had collided with a car on a remote Cornish level crossing - the second crash at the spot in a month.

- 17/01/2006The attempts by former General secretary Shaun Brady to seek remedies for being dismissed have been held up due to the last minute cancellation of the Remedies Hearing due to be heard on 17th January. We have been told that the Chair of the Tribunal has been taken ill .
- ASLEF to ballot London Underground members
- 12/01/2006The 2,200 ASLEF members employed by London Underground will be balloted for industrial action later this month after a "serious breakdown in industrial relations and trust".
