- Braking Safety Concerns Stop London Tube Lines
- 27 Sep 2007A tube train driver discovered a fault on the braking system of trains on the Circle Line on Tuesday. He reported it and management agreed to remedy the situation. In the interim a similar fault was discovered on other trains on the Circle and Hammersmith and City lines.
- 75 percent opposed to road trains says poll
- 27 Sep 2007A National Opinion Poll (NOP) survey shows that 75% of the general public is opposed to the introduction of ‘road trains’ - known as LHVs - onto UK roads. The survey further revealed that 80% of the general public favoured the government encouraging more freight to go by rail instead of by road.

- 27 Sep 2007Transport minister Ruth Kelly said at today’s Labour Party conference that she will take a ‘heck of a lot of persuading’ to accept that 60 tonne lorries should be allowed onto UK roads. Ruth was responding to a question put to her by ASLEF delegate Pauline Cawood.
