Funeral of jailed Driver Morgan

07 April 2009

ASLEF’s general secretary Keith Norman and President Alan Donnelly have been making their way to Worthing Crematorium this morning for the midday ceremony to mark the life and death of Bob Morgan, the train driver wrongly jailed after the Purley Train crash.

Bob was 66 when he died last Saturday in a boating accident. He was last seen in the late afternoon sailing on the River Medina off the Isle of Wight.

Keith paid tribute to a ‘brave and principled man whose life was tormented by that dreadful day at Purley in March 1989’.

‘Bob craved peace and tranquility,’ Keith says. ‘I hope he has finally found them.’
