Union calls off London Midland action 23 Dec

22 December 2010

ASLEF has called off its proposed industrial action planned for 23 December following the granting of an injunction to London Midland in the High Court yesterday.

The court ruling was based on the company challenging the legitimacy of three of the 600-plus ballot papers issued in the industrial relations vote that backed strike action. That ballot resulted in an 86% mandate for industrial action.

Keith Norman said that the union would continue to press its case that all drivers employed by London Midland who performed the same job should be paid the same and enjoy similar conditions of service - but that this would not be pursued through industrial action on 23 December.

The union has advised its branch secretaries, representatives and members that the industrial action planned for 23 December has been called off.
