Pay dispute at DB Tyne and Wear Metro

15 May 2013

Members of ASLEF and other rail trade unions who work for DB Tyne & Wear Metro are to be balloted for industrial action after pay talks broke down.

The company’s final offer was 2.3% from July with the next pay award being 2015 or 1.1% from April and a further 1.2% from 1 September 2013, with current travel arrangements for the life of the concession and monthly pay to be introduced in December 2013.

The negotiators and the union’s executive committee have rejected this, and the union is advising the company’s HR Director of ASLEF’s intention to ballot our driver members for strike action.

The result of the ballot of ASLEF’s 60 members in DB Tyne & Wear Metro will be known on 12 June.
