Keep East Coast public

Keep East Coast public

Write to your MP and sign the petition to Patrick McLoughlin, Secretary of State for Transport.

Following the collapse of two previous private operators, East Coast has been run directly by the state for the last three years.  It has been a success story under public ownership.

We believe that East Coast should be retained, not only as a successful public sector model but also as a comparator for the rest of the privatised network. Every year we see private companies move hundreds of millions of pounds offshore in dividends rather than using the money to hold down fares and help investment in Britain’s railway network. If the East Coast line is reprivatised passengers, staff, and the taxpayer are all set to lose out.

Visit the Action for Rail campaign website to write to your MP and sign the online petition calling for East Coast rail to be kept public. Please spread the word.
