Text of ASLEF Circular on the FBU Rally

08 September 2005

TO: ALL BRANCHES AND REPS

Fellow Members,

FBU MARCH AND RALLY 7TH DECEMBER 2002 – ASSEMBLE 12 NOON CLEOPATRA’S NEEDLE, EMBANKMENT, LONDON

We are now advised that the FBU/TUC demonstration in support of the fire fighters will assemble this Saturday (7th December 2002) at 12.00 noon at Cleopatra’s Needle (nearest tube stations Waterloo or Embankment). The march will move off at 1pm and will end up with a rally in Hyde Park.

The TUC have expressed their desire to see as many ASLEF activists, members, officers and families as possible on the demonstration. The National banner will be present along with the other national committee banners for the retired, women, LGBT and black & ethnic minority members. Branches should also bring their banners to this rally to help maximise ASLEF members support.

ASLEF members/banners should congregate as near as possible to the front of the march at Cleopatra’s needle.

Please log onto the ASLEF web site (www.aslef.org.uk) and click on the fire dispute icon at the top of the page where you will receive the latest information and future updates.

We will be issuing flags and whistles on the day for members to carry and show their support. If any of our members can use musical instruments, please bring them along as well. It would be good if members brought their ASLEF regalia to wear, i.e.: t-shirts, ties, badges etc.

It is crucial that we ensure that ASLEF is well represented on this demonstration and that we show our support for the fire-fighters in their dispute

If you require any other information please contact the communications department at Head Office (0207-317-8600) or email info@aslef.org.uk

Please bring this circular to the attention of your members

Yours fraternally
M D RIX
General Secretary
