Howard Kaye, a driver with VTEC, and executive committee member for District 5, polled 28,005 votes standing as the Labour Party candidate in the election for Police and Crime Commissioner in Surrey. He was placed fourth in the first round of voting, behind David Munro (Conservative), Kevin Hurley (Zero Tolerance Policing Party) and Paul Kennedy (Liberal Democrat) and ahead of Julia Searle (UKIP), Jamie Goldrick (Independent) and Camille Juliff (Independent). ʻI would like to thank all those who voted for me,ʼ said Howard, ʻand all those who worked so hard on my campaign.ʼ It was a very creditable performance in what is not a natural Labour constituency!
