Ken Cameron

17 May 2016

Mick Whelan, general secretary of ASLEF, the train drivers’ union, said: ‘Everyone here at ASLEF was saddened to learn today of the death of Ken Cameron, former general secretary of the FBU. Ken Cameron was a good man, a good socialist, and a good friend of ASLEF. He was liked and respected by everyone who knew him in the labour movement – I never heard anyone say a bad word about him – and we are all going to miss him and the help and advice he would offer. Ken led the FBU through difficult times, but he was an absolute rock, standing shoulder to shoulder with workers in other trade unions. He was also a great internationalist, and got involved with the struggles of socialists and trade unionists in many countries. Ken helped us set up Justice for Colombia and we all know that the legacy of the man will live on.’
