TUC Fringe Rally: ASLEF calls for support for pensioners manifesto

The TUC Congress gave strong backing to the pensioners" manifesto, opposed plans to raise the retirement age and called for an urgent restoration of the link between pension rises and pay.

ASLEF delegate Paul Keenan said "This government needs to urgently rethink the way it treats its pensioners and its voters. Less than 41% of pensioners have a company pension and the average income of those that do, is just £4,000 per year."


"Let"s be clear the state pension remains the bedrock of the pensions system".
