ASLEF backs rally to restore rights in the workplace

28 July 2005

ASLEF has joined over twenty trade unions, representing millions of workers and their families, in a renewed campaign for a Workers" Charter.

The United Campaign to Repeal the Anti Trade Union Laws has brought together a winning combination of union leaders, employment lawyers, rank and file activists and labour movement academics to pressurise government to repeal laws brought in by the Tories.

Britain has some of the most restrictive laws in Europe that shackle unions and ban solidarity action.

High point will be a rally on Saturday 13 November at Red Lion Square, London WC1 at 11am.

Speakers include

Tony Benn,

T&G leader Tony Woodley,

Mark Serwotka of the civil servants,

John McDonnell MP,

firefighters" president Ruth Winters,

Bob Crow of RMT,

John Hendy QC

... and many others.
