TUC Conference on the Regulation of Safety on the Railways in the light of the Darling Review

A TUC Conference on the Regulation of Safety on the Railways in the light of the Darling Review is to be held on Friday 25th June 2004 from 10am to 4pm. The Conference is sponsored by ASLEF, RMT, Prospect and TSSA.

The venue is Congress House, Great Russell St, London WC1B 3LS
(nearest tube station Tottenham Court Road)

Speakers will include:
Bill Callaghan, Chair of the Health & Safety Commission
Brendan Barber, General Secretary of the TUC

With representatives of the industry, passenger groups and others

Chair – Paul Noon, General Secretary of Prospect

The conference will look at the implications for the railways, and other sectors, of proposals to move responsibility for safety on the railways from the Health & Safety Commission to the Department of Transport of the Office of the Rail Regulator. It will be of interest, not only to those with an interest in railways, but those with a general interest in enforcement and regulation of 
safety standards.

Registration is free, but places are limited and will be allocated on a “first come, first served” basis.
