Management changes mind about talks with Union

01 July 2005

Urgent talks are to take place this afternoon (Friday) at the union"s Hampstead headquarters involving Network Rail, the Association of Train Operating Companies (ATOC) and the Rail Safety and Standards Board (RSSB).

The agenda is obviously the union"s call for safety action on Monday which would lead to members refusing to take trains through areas covered by a contentious communications system.

Network Rail yesterday said it could not, or would not, talk on the issue, but now appears to have had a change of heart.

The union expects to be able to update the situation later this afternoon.
