Possible breakthrough in First Great Western

29 June 2006

ASLEF negotiators have made sufficient progress with First Great Western that they are in a position to recommend a basis of settlement to the executive committee.

With an overwhelming vote supporting the union's call for action in their pockets, the negotiators felt that talks took ‘a more positive turn'.

Specifically, progress has been made on three issues: cross-cover, staff travel and movement to 104 rest days a year.

The issue will be debated by the executive at its meeting on 4 July.
