Lobby of Parliament 9 May

26 April 2006

Members are urged to support the Lobby of Parliament on 9 May to progress the joint rail unions" campaign on pensions.

The lobby is to give ASLEF members, and those of the other rail unions, the opportunity to meet their MP and seek their support for our campaign, including signing Early Day Motion 1681.

ASLEF members who can attend the lobby are asked to assemble ourside St Stephen"s entrance at 1300. We will then go to Committee Room 14 for a rally that will end before 1600. The General Secretaries of ASLEF, the RMT and TSSA will speak, along with MPs.

If you can play a part at the lobby, please write to your MP in advance (at House of Commons, London SW1A 0AA) requesting that he or she meets you in the Committee Room, or in the House of Westminster"s Central Lobby if they are not available until after 1600. It is also possible to contact your MP by using www.faxyourmp.com

If you have not heard from your MP by 9 May it is still possible to put in a request for a meeting on the day by filling in a "Green Card" at the reception desk in the Main Lobby.

Please play your part in a campaign aimed at preserving existing benefits without increased costs for all rail workers - and to end the wasteful folly of having 103 pension schemes for rail workers.
