ASLEF suspends 2 March LUL strike

27 February 2006

ASLEF negotiators at London Underground (LUL) will recommend to the Executive Committee that it suspends the union’s proposed industrial action on LUL on 2 March.

In a statement the union said that talks had progressed to the stage where taking action would prove unhelpful and could adversely affect the discussions. ASLEF has no desire to disrupt London’s travelling public unless it is absolutely necessary.

The negotiating team has reached provisional outline agreements with the company on all outstanding issues and the action has been suspended with the clear expectation that the details can be ironed out within the next 28 days.

‘If this does not happen we will have been misled and cheated,’ said a spokesman. ‘It would lead to a vigorous and sustained reaction from ASLEF.’
