Wessex ballot as dispute grows over sacking

09 February 2006

ASLEF members working for Wessex Trains are to be balloted for industrial action following the dismissal of one of the union’s highly experienced representatives.

District Organiser Stan Moran says the issue has been through the full disciplinary machinery with no satisfactory conclusion and General Secretary Keith Norman had no hesitation in recommending today that the EC ballot for industrial action.

ASLEF members will vote on a series of 24 hour discontinuous strikes. Ballot papers will be returned by first post on 15 March.
